Things to Do in Cyprus
77When I was last there I wasn’t too concerned about having things to do in Cyprus. All I wanted was to relax and it was quite sufficient to lay on the beach with a good book, eat out in a different restaurant each night and occasionally jump on my hired scooter and explore the countryside. That was more than enough to keep me happy. However I appreciate that some families with young children may well need a little more to their itinerary. As we know kids get bored very easily so it’s always good to have an activity or two up your sleeves to keep them entertained.
In this article let’s take a little look at some of the tourist attractions that could fill a day or perhaps just an afternoon.
Aphrodite Water Park in Paphos
This place seems to me the best of all possible worlds. This massive aqua land has a small man made beach where you can resume reading your latest trashy novel but your kids won’t resent you because the beach is surrounded by dozens of crazy water slides and rides which will keep them entertained for hours without you having to worry about their safety. Some rides are cool for teenagers and others nice and easy for the toddlers. You might never go anywhere else all holiday.
Mazotos Camel Park
There’s a park and it’s full of camels, what more do you need to know?? These faintly ridiculous animals are great fun and a real surprise to find here in Cyprus. Only 15 minutes from Larnaca going for a camel safari certainly beats a donkey ride down on Blackpool beach. Fun for both kids and parents and there’s a big pool here as well to relax by afterwards.
Santa Marina Retreat
Get back to nature immediately! If you’re holidaying away from a busy city take the time to enjoy the natural world of Cyprus. Here at the Santa Marina Retreat, just outside Limassol, you can get away from it all and indulge in some proper healthy outdoor activities. Horse riding, golf, archery and climbing are all available or perhaps just a relaxed stroll in the beautiful countryside will be sufficient.
Paphos Bird Park
Come on when was the last time you saw a bird more interesting than a pigeon? Well you’ve got no excuse now. This fantastic aviary is stoked full of different exotic species. From parrots to Eagles, ducks to geese and partridges and pheasants. And if that wasn’t enough the name bird park is a little misleading as they have loads of animals here as well. Giraffes, Zebras, Meerkats and snakes. There’s even another camel here, they seem to get everywhere.
Ocean Aquarium Park
Now that you’ve seen our feathered friends why not head over to the Ocean Aquarium Park at Protaras and check out our scaled friends. I always like to visit an aquarium wherever I am in the world and this one won’t disappoint. As well as a wealth of different sea life, from piranhas and eels to clown fish and turtles there are also the ever impressive crocodile enclosure and a penguin park.
Larnaca Rock and Bowl Bowling Centre
Ok enough of the nature let’s get back to some urban fun. What better way to spend an evening and keep the kids amused with your lack of co ordination then to spend a couple of hours ten pin bowling? It always looks so easy to begin with doesn’t it? But of how frustrating after the 10th time you’ve put it in the gutter. Still it will amuse the kids.
So as you can see there’s plenty to do when the young ones moan that they’re bored. Come on dad it’s their holiday too! And the list above is just a small taste of what you can expect from a family holiday in Cyprus. Remember too that while there are lots to do and many places to visit Cyprus is a fairly small island so any activity is a fairly short drive away. Have fun.

Great hub about Cyprus - I lived there for a while and managed to do none of those things! Oops. Thanks for sharing.
